My 8+ metre moho got into and turned OK in the rear car park no problemmo! No big issues with the entrance so don't be put off! Enough room for probably 5 - 6 medium sized mohos anyway with electric available for all. An outdoor decking area is provided. Grass pitches are at the owners' discretion There is also a 'Bunkhouse' with facilities that sleeps up to 8. Grub excellent and a few drinky poos later there's jolly banter in the bar. The village is sleepy but well worth a detour visit off the A74 or North from Dumfries to seek out the history of the area The general store is next to the hotel pub and well stocked. If the residents of Wanlockhead prefer to drink in this pub then that speaks volumes!
Two stays here and we are just as impressed as we were was with a stay a few years ago. Large comfy room with a thoughtful basket of goodies for our dog. The food was excellent and reasonably price! The fish and chips were top notch! It is such a warm and welcoming pub and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Big shout out for the breakfast as well, nice strong decaf coffee and the fresh pineapple and melon were a tasty addition. The breakfast sausage for our dog was very well received too. We would definitely stay again, thank you Hopetoun Inn
Like stepping back in time in a good way. Really lovely little mining village and the hotel/pub is immaculate and the staff are really friendly and accommodating. Food was really good, room comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Definitely recommend.
The room we had was amazing, we slept sooo confortably with our two kids, breakfast was lovely, you can feel the cozy of this family owned place. Thanks a lot!
An amazing traditional hotel in a quiet village with amazing views. Staff all incredibly friendly, room was spacious and clean. Very caring and well set up for bringing a dog. Breakfast had plenty of choice and lovely quality. Would definitely stay again.
On our way through, we stayed overnight at a beautiful, classic, old Scottish hotel, the Hopetoun Arms in Leadhills. It was a super pet-friendly hotel, a fantastic experience for the dog. Delicious cuisine, a surprising menu, and good food. The English breakfast was fantastic! They even had a fried sausage for the dog. A very sweet lady told us about the area and the Scottish lifestyle. True hospitality. Compliments, love Peter, Riky, and the dog, from the Netherlands.
A real gem - I'm so glad I stayed at the Hopetoun Arms while walking the Southern Upland Way. The room was spacious, bright, warm, and very nicely decorated with love to detail. Rachel and Rab and the staff are just fantastic, very welcoming and nothing is too much of a bother. I hope to be able to stay in the Hopetoun again.
I have stayed at the Hopetoun Arms a few times when I am cycling through. The team are all very friendly and always have a great stay. The food is good and home made. The rooms are in good condition and nicely decorated. Well worth a stay if you are in the area!
